PFAFF creative icon 3 Sewing and Embroidery Machine
The creative icon 3 is the flagship of the PFAFF line. It brings the largest embroidery area available on the market, free-arm embroidery, and a set of quilting and placement tools that no other machine in the range carries. Reserve one with a refundable deposit and pick it up at your Quality Sewing store when it arrives. (This machine is only available for in-store pickup.)

The new embroidery unit reaches 450mm x 450mm with the optional Grand Turnable Hoop, well past the 360mm x 350mm ceiling of the creative icon 2. It also runs with less noise and vibration, and the redesigned hoop and unit attachments make setup faster between projects.

Free-arm embroidery lets you personalise ready-made items that used to mean taking a seam apart first. Slide the tube over the arm, hoop the area you want, and stitch.

Quilting in embroidery normally means adjusting several settings by hand every time. Quick Quilt Settings does all of it at once: ActivStitch Technology switches off, thread tension increases, the automatic thread cut turns off, and the new bobbin pick-up engages.

Its 450mm x 450mm maximum hoop is the largest offered; the creative icon 2, creative performance 950 and creative expression 750 top out at 360mm x 350mm, and the creative elevate 680 at 360mm x 200mm. What is the difference between the creative icon 2 and the creative icon 3?
The creative icon 3 adds a larger embroidery area of 450mm x 450mm with the optional Grand Turnable Hoop, against 360mm x 350mm on the creative icon 2. It also introduces free-arm embroidery, Quick Quilt Settings for quilting in the hoop, and an enhanced Stitch Creator. Exact Position now scales designs to fit rather than only positioning them.
What can free-arm embroidery do that a normal embroidery unit cannot?
It stitches tubular items without opening a seam. Cuffs, sleeves, baby clothes, bags and pillowcases slide over the arm so you can hoop just the area you want. On other machines those jobs mean unpicking a seam and sewing it back up afterwards, which is why this is the feature most likely to change how you work.
Will there be new hoops for the creative icon 3?
Yes. PFAFF has confirmed new larger hoops included with the machine, plus new optional hoops including a free-arm hoop and a magnetic hoop. The Grand Turnable Hoop is the optional hoop required to reach the full 450mm x 450mm embroidery area. Exact included sizes have not been published yet.
Does it work with a phone or tablet?
Yes. The machine is built into the CREATIVATE ecosystem, previously branded mySewnet. The free CREATIVATE app digitizes photos from your phone, sends live machine updates, and syncs designs between devices. Enabled devices also transfer designs to the machine wirelessly.
How does the pre-order deposit work?
The $500 deposit is fully refundable and reserves a machine from the incoming shipment. It goes toward the balance when the machine arrives in Fall 2026.
