Westalee Sampler Set 'Jewel' Quilt Book by Angela Attwood

The ‘Jewel' Quilt was designed to showcase ruler work and the Westalee Quilting System. The bespoke design is based around six simple-to-use rulers from the Westalee Sampler Set 1 plus the 12” Arc Ruler. There are areas for you to add your own design flare along the way, which Angela encourages.

The quilt pattern, just like the Westalee Sampler Set 1, is super versatile, growing in three rounds, which means you get three quilt sizes for the price of one! You can choose to make the full sized quilt (70”), a smaller lap quilt (50”), or a small baby quilt (33”, sizes approximate). The quilt is constructed in a “Quilt-As-You-Go’ method.

The beauty of quilt-as-you-go is that you get a true, double-sided quilt. You can choose to have it as a whole cloth on the reverse in all one colour, or a completely different colourway to the front.

The design also allows you to experience working with different sized quilt sandwiches, from small 10” squares up to 50” panels.

You also get the opportunity to practice blocks first. You can learn the block pattern first on a practice piece, then stitch it out again on your final quilt fabric. As your confidence and skill levels improve, this will be less necessary but it’s a good idea to begin with and far less stressful.
