Workshop 2: Quick Zip Cases (January 20th, 2025)
This second workshop of five will have you sewing a small size zipper case with boxed corners. You will learn methods for quilting foam stabilizer, sealing edges and considerations for dealing with bulk while sewing. You learn about different types of zippers, practice putting a zipper slide on zipper teeth as well as techniques for installing and sewing zippers. Examples of customization of this pattern by re-sizing will be shared. Student’s homework in preparation for Workshop 3 will be reviewed.

Workshop 3: Project Bags 2.0 (February 17th, 2025)
This third workshop of five will introduce you to working with clear vinyl, as well as how to cut, sew, and join crosscut binding. The medium size project bag featured in this session will also include a reinforced handle and a contrasting fabric bottom border that you have the option to piece together different fabrics or embellish with a woven ribbon. Student’s homework in preparation for Workshop 4 will be reviewed.

Workshop 4: Piecekeeper (March 17th, 2025)
This fourth workshop of five will introduce you to working with a larger bag panel, the addition of stretchy mesh and how to cut and sew rounded corners. You will learn about the benefits of bias binding and how to cut, sew, and join that binding to complete this versatile bag. Student’s homework in preparation for Workshop 5 will be reviewed.

Workshop 5: Easy Does It (April 21st, 2025)
The last session in the series of five foundational workshops will focus on creating a multiple piece, three-dimensional bag. You will learn to assemble components to make a zipper-side strip loop and then combine that with front and back panels to create a bag with handles. You will learn how to bias bind this type of bag as well as how to add an optional, interior mesh pocket topped with fold over elastic. You will learn about considerations with regards to directional fabric when using multiple pieces and tips for quilting individual pieces of Soft and Stable. An alternative method to sew bias binding on will be reviewed. Examples of customization of this pattern in unique ways will be shared.
