The Brother ScanNCut is an electronic cutting machine that scans your designs and cuts them with precision—no dies or cartridges needed. You can create custom shapes, appliqués, vinyl decals, and more from your own artwork, printed designs, or built-in templates.

Nope! ScanNCut machines are totally stand-alone—you don’t need to hook them up to a computer to cut. Just use the built-in screen, scan your design, and start cutting. For more advanced editing, you can also use Brother’s CanvasWorkspace software.

ScanNCut machines can handle a wide variety of materials including:

• Fabric and felt (great for appliqué)
• Vinyl and HTV
• Cardstock and paper
• Foam sheets and thin plastic
• Sticker sheets and stencils

The standard mat is designed to hold heavier materials like cardstock or fabric securely, while the low tack mat is gentler for delicate materials like thin paper, vellum, or vinyl. Choosing the right mat helps prevent tearing or slipping during cutting.

ScanNCut blades come in different types for different materials. The Standard Cut Blade is great for paper and vinyl. The Rotary Blade is ideal for fabric cutting, especially for curved shapes. Always match the blade type to the material you’re working with for best results.
