What is the advantage to a longarm quilting machine?
Although quilting without a longarm is possible, such as with a home sewing or domestic machine, there are many advantages to having a longarm machine. The Handi Quilter longarm is made specifically for free-motion quilting. This means it does not do any stitch other than a free-motion straight stitch. You are not limited to simple free-motion shapes, like the standard meandering. There are many different options available for quilting rulers that will help you achieve beautiful and intricate designs into your free-motion. We love Good Measure rulers, and of course, Handi Quilter rulers. You can mix and match these templates to create professional level quilts right at home.
Another advantage to the sit-down quilter is that you are not limited in the size of quilt. With most frames, you are limited in quilt width to whatever the length of the frame is. However, with a sit-down quilter, you slide the fabric around in work in sections. This means you are able to complete quilts of vastly different sizes. You can also buy table extensions for either side of the Insight table to extend your workspace. You can add one to either side, and really make the table suit your individual space needs.
